Harvard Professor Lynda Applegate researches women entrepreneurs.
She shared some interesting statistics with me and my fellow alumni last week.
- Of the total number of new businesses launched in the U.S. in 2014, 40% are owned by women.
- During the first half of 2014, women opened more than 1,200 new businesses each day, double the rate from three years ago.
- More than 9 million women-owned businesses in the United States generate more than $1.4 trillion in revenues.
- These women-owned businesses employ 7.9 million people.
When you are thinking about getting a loan or asking for investor funding and think being a woman is a deterrent, think again.
There are plenty of successful women business owners. You can be, too!
